Synopsis
In August 2015 Radu Păltineanu, a Romanian-born Canadian, set off from Deadhorse, Alaska, expecting to reach the far end of South America in about nine months. He arrived in Ushuaia in October 2018, after 34,554 kilometers by bike (about 21,470 miles) and a long stretch on the Amazon by boat.
Andrei Dăscălescu builds the film from Radu’s own road footage, a voice-over taken from his journals, interviews with the people who helped him, and new conversations between the two men. An online romance with Irina, now a lasting partnership, finally ends the wandering.

- In production and editing. First assembly due in fall 2026, with the world premiere targeted for mid-2027.

- Over 50 percent of the budget comes from Romanian sources and is already secured.
- Language versions
- The voice-over will be recorded in English first. Radu can voice Spanish, Portuguese, and French versions himself.
- The protagonist
- Radu Păltineanu co-wrote the film. No Romanian had crossed both Americas by bicycle before him.
- The director
- Andrei Dăscălescu’s debut, Constantin and Elena, won the IDFA First Appearance Award in 2008. Planeta Petrila won Romania’s Gopo Award for Best Documentary in 2018.
